For many, and I can't emphasise enough how many (okay, 10), years, the Lego Harry Potter games were the only options available for any kind of console adventure we wanted to have in the Wizarding World. The plastic characters who could only cast 8 spells (if they were really talented) were our only choice for the past decade for PC, PlayStation, XBox, and even the Nintendo Switch (and other platforms). The plot sometimes gets closer to the books than the movies themselves, Ron becomes entirely useless in the first game once you start story mode of Year 3 (around 25% of the game), you can never skip any cutscene in story mode and for some low-budget reason, Lord Voldemort is everyone's boggart except Harry's, Ron's, Hermione's, and Voldemort's (yes, even Snape and Dumbledore have Voldie as their boggarts).
But all of that is actually to say how much I love those two games! I've played it far too many times to completion. I went as far as creating a new profile on my PS4 just so I could get the trophies all over again. I got to the point where I can get 100% of the game without even checking the guides anymore. I don't even have to use cheat codes anymore!
I can't wait for Hogwarts Legacy to come out. I can't wait to be immersed in the Wizarding World in any way possible, and I'll gladly allow myself to miss the Lego Harry Potter games before I find myself starting Years 5-7 again, because it's so much better than 1-4.
